Jack Leroy Crockett Sr.

Hernando, passed away Aug. 23, 2017. Mr. Crockett was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served in the 101st Airborne division and was a member of Carriage Hills Baptist Church in Southaven. He retired after 40 years of service with Burlington Northern Railroad. Mr. Crockett was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Leroy Crockett and Norma Sue Crockett Kulp and his grandson, Dennis Ray Crockett. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Erma Dot Boatright Crockett, three children, Jack Leroy Crockett Jr. (Denise), Sharon Crockett Day, and Katrina Crockett Carter Brown (Richard); nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 28, 2017 from 12-2 p.m and the funeral service will be at 2 p.m., all at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch. ... (DeSoto Times-Tribune)

Jerry Gambrell Jr.

Andrews Chapel Road, husband of Jessie McClellan Gambrell, passed away Friday, the 11th, 2017 at HospiceCare of the Piedmont.Born in Columbia, May 1, 1972, he was a son of Jerry Leon Sr. and Cathy Bledsoe Gambrell. Upon graduating from Strom Thurmond high school, he served in the SC National Guard. Jerry was a dedicated Carolina Gamecock fan and was also an avid golfer.Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and his parents of Greenwood, are a daughter, Meg Gambrell; a step-son, Maddox Covington and a brother, Joey and his wife Melanie Gambrell of Edgefield.He was predeceased by his grandparents, Marvin and Sara “Doll” Gambrell of Donalds and Crafton and Erline Bledsoe of Johnston.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 in the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Sprouse officiating.
